EUS hosted a conference “European Year of Disabled People” in November 2003
with workshops based on facilitating disabled people back to work. We have participated
in two other Leonardo programme consisting of piloting modules designed to assist
disabled people back into the job market. We are also hosting a Spanish Leonardo
programme with sixteen post-graduate volunteers.

Marie Curie Association, Bulgaria
Marie Curie has a long and extensive experience in projects related to vocational
training of disabled people. Since 1997 we have provided services and training
to disabled people such as:
- Providing work placements through mentoring programmes: linking a disabled
person with a mentor in a sphere and occupation chosen by him/her
- Employers’ network of disability: 102 companies are members of it.
- Research carried out with the help of employers and disabled people in
the sphere of the current legislation stimulating the employment of disabled
people.
- Professional orientation and consulting
- Motivation
- “How and where to look for a job”
- Training materials for the preparation of a CV and motivation letter
- Role plays with a video camera: employer/potential employee looking for
a job
- Information about communication industries: challenges, recruitment of
personnel, specific requirements
- Information and consultation on existing European programmes offering
training and qualification
- Virtual incubator for prequalification of unemployed people
- Training of professionals in Disability Equality
- Motivation training for disable people and professionals working with
disabled people
Our team will also be able to provide extensive and expert knowledge in EU project
management, quality criteria and valorisation of products.
Keskupsuisto Vocational Institute, Finland
Keskuspuisto Vocational Institute is maintained by the ORTON Invalid Foundation
as an upper secondary level vocational special education institution and development
centre for special needs education.
Students, other educational institutions, and cooperative partners are provided
a wide variety of educational, developmental, and expert services. The Institute
has vast national and international experience in project collaboration and
cooperation.
The Institute is located in the Ruskeasuo district of Helsinki and operates
19 additional learning units in the Greater Helsinki and Uusimaa region.
Some 600 students participate annually in upper secondary education and adult
vocational education and training.
All of our activities further respect for life and enhancing human dignity.
We are committed to providing individual service to our students and supporting
our students' goals in rehabilitation, life-long learning, and better management
of their independent lives. We provide each student an Individual Education
Plan (IEP), flexible curricula, low instructor-to-student ratios in the classroom,
and small study groups to facilitate learning.
Our goal is to equip Keskuspuisto Vocational Institute graduates with individually-tailored
vocational skills, the desire for life-long learning, and ability to integrate
into society as full, active members.
We are committed to enhancing the students' individuality and meeting our students'
developmental needs. All of our operations are guided by the following principles:

The Institute has four educational tasks.
- We provide special education, rehabilitative instruction, and guidance
for students with special needs.
- Keskuspuisto Vocational Institute is accredited by the Ministry of Education
to provide instruction leading to a vocational upper secondary qualification
in twelve different fields.
- We offer preparatory education for new immigrants to Finland.
- The Institute also serves as a development and service centre for special
needs education. Services include supporting studying in general education
institutions, arranging special education seminars, and providing as-requested
courses, for example, in vocational special education, different learners,
and preparing an Individual Education Plan.

The preparation of our company for the project is twofold. First we have participated
in numerous parent groups (type of seminars). For example we participated in
"vocational training of special needs people" and "Educational problems of special
needs people". Secondly, we have found the access points for the information
about working special needs people
Gruppo CSCS, Italy
CSCS is a private vocational training organisation, a research centre and a
publishing company.
We offer training programmes within apprenticeship schemes, initial and continuous
training as well as post graduate programmes to companies and individuals. We
are interested in the use of new technologies within the framework of both training
programmes and the provision of vocational guidance services.
As a research centre we cooperate with numerous european organisations to promote
innvation in our sector, exchange and disseminate good examples of practice
in order to achieve the Lisbon goals.
Our products as a publishing company are focused on the vocational training
programmes and services enabling citizens to face the challanges of the labour

TRAINING 2000, Italy
TRAINING 2000 is a Vocational Training Organization, which is active in adult
Education and training (LLL and continuous education) , consulting and promotion
of Innovative Technologies within enterprises. Training 2000 organizes Vocational
training courses for :
- Development of social skills and competences,
- Better employment for "disadvantaged groups" entering the work
force
- Business start-up.
The centre also carries out the analyses of training needs, new occupation
profiles and development of new curricula through European projects and partnerships.
Learndirect, Scotland
learndirect scotland are the lifelong learning agency of the Scottish Executive.
We have substantial experience in working with all sectors of education and
training in Scotland, including involvement in a number of projects for people
with a range of disabilities and/or special needs. We are partners in a number
of European projects.
